A Change Is Gonna Come

OK, peptide convo time (so muff your eyes and ears if this is not your jam) OMGGGGG the FDA’s Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee did something amazing yesterday. They voted on moving several peptides to the 503A Bulks list or in plain language, several went from the “naughty list” to the “nice” one including my beloved BPC-157 and TB-500.
What this actually means is that US pharmacies can start using these overseas peptides to fill valid prescriptions for people instead of forcing those of us who use them to go buy them off the gray market. Imagine having ortho surgery and being able to self-administer FDA approved healing agents that are covered by insurance and available at your local pharmacy. Agents that speed up recovery by weeks, allowing people to use less opioids and get back to life sooner. This would be incredible and we’re already seeing a lot of anecdotal evidence that folks are avoiding surgery entirely by using peptides early in their injury cycle to treat tendonitis, strains and other early stage issues. Prior to my surgery, I was using BPC-157 and TB-500 to manage the pain in my ankle and foot versus taking super high doses of Advil. Had I started using them earlier along with rest, I could’ve potentially avoided surgery.
Along with those two, KPV and MOTs-C were also moved onto the 503A Bulks list, however, I haven’t tried either of those two in any meaningful capacity so I can’t comment on how useful they are. Today 3 others were presented. So far 1 of the 3 passed, one failed and one is still being debated as of 2pm. What’s exciting is seeing alternative therapies being given consideration. As someone who’s had a lot of surgeries and a lot of recoveries, and a LOT of painkillers and anti-inflammatories, I prefer the peptide approach and am continuing to hope we eventually see real progress forward. Today was one step closer to that goal.
One vote at a time, the naughty list is getting shorter. For those of us who’ve spent years choosing between pain and painkillers, that feels like real goodness.
