    Jon Krakauer's firsthand account of the 1996 Everest disaster. There is nothing better than reading about people freezing on an icy, snowbound mountain while it's 10,000 degrees outside my house.

    Attention K-Mart Shoppers

    A treasure trove of in-store K-Mart tapes from the '80s and '90s, digitized by a former employee who saved the cassettes headed for the trash. Soft-focus elevator music, blue-light-special announcements, the whole thing. It is the most soothing background noise for icing my foot on the couch, and somehow it smells like a store I haven't stood in for thirty years.
